Daphne (=laurel in Greek) was a nymph who loved to hunt and be in the woods. She was very beautiful and Apollo fell in love with her. But Eros, the little son of Aphrodite, who was angry with him, decided to play a nasty game on him: he sent him the golden arrow of love and Daphne another, made of lead. Apollo loses his sleep over his love for Daphne, while she feels nothing because her heart is stone! She avoids him, begs for help and so gods transformed her into a plant.
