Leto

Leto was the mother of Apollo and Artemis, by Zeus. When Hera heard that Leto was pregnant by Zeus, she forbade Leto to give birth on land or in any other place under the sun. The myth says that when Leto was about to give birth, a small island, Delos, appeared in the sea. There she managed to give birth to the twins, first Artemis and then Apollo, hence the Leton temple in Delos dedicated to her. Asteroid 68 (1861) is named after her.
